Well, if someone ("a man") is in tune with their instincts, and said instincts tell them "something is not right here", and said man ignores his instincts and blindly plows ahead then he is just a stupid man.
Unless you are ready to be the one to personally take Mr. Hannibal down (and you are not - the general "you" meaning pretty much most of us) then the real "man" listens to his instincts and acts accordingly.
Blindly pushing ahead "just because I am a man" is just stupidity. :p

Seconded, Martek.
Only stupid movie people 'blindly plow ahead', or open closet doors after they've heard a sound coming from in there, or go down into the dark basement with a faulty flashlight.
littlek; I had a similar incident in my basement wherein my dog Saijeiro (who's 1/2 Akita - 1/2 Chow & weighs about 90 lbs.) suddenly acted spooked and went tearing up the stairs (he usually loves snooping around down there). I followed a close second. I don't go down there at night anymore. :o

Well, whatever your dog got spooked over is probably nothing for you to be worried about.

What does him getting scared to do with being a man? As if a penis was some kind of magic stick that should make him immune to fear.
jimjack, it sounds as if it was just the place that freaked you out. If it happens again in other places it's time to see a doc. Otherwise grab your dog and go there again sometime to confront your fears. Good luck. :)

I'd find it more likely that the balls have something to do with it.

I've heard it said that animals can sense 'things' on a level that humans can't. Saijeiro is usually pretty fearless and quite aggressive, so when he became visibly and audibly spooked (he whined, his tail uncurled as though he was going to lower it between his legs, and he made a mad dash up the basement stairs) I felt the hair on the back of my neck stand up and I very quickly took those stairs two at a time. He acted as though he couldn't wait to get back upstairs, whining at the door while I fumbled with the doorknob - unusual behavior for that dog.
For all I know, he could have been bitten on the nose by a spider; I just wasn't going to stay down there to investigate. (My God, man! Don't you ever watch those movies where stupid movie people meet their doom because they get curious and go looking in the dark corners?!!)

That and when they start running, they fall, they always freakin fall down to the ground. Why the hell do they fall, to add to the drama, you can smell it coming a mile away. DON'T FALL!!

And have you ever noticed it's ALWAYS THE FEMALE that falls down during the critical chase scene??!!! You never see the guy trip and do a faceplant, do you?
What's up with that? :weird:

That was exactly my thought. Maybe you wouldn't be posting here now if you had investigated, instead of leaving.

Anyone else get this feeling..anyone???:o
Definitely. I used to get this feeling a
lot. It is still sometimes sort of frequent. I know the thought of walking outside of my house or down the road or on my property at night, alone, scares me like crazy. I'm always afraid I'll sleep-walk outside somehow at night, and come to and have a severe panic attack. I would be
so frightened.
There's this new movie theater that was recently built in town, and their restrooms are extremely eerie. You walk in and it's a long walk-way, lined with stalls of course, and it's very dimly lit the further the hall goes down. I've dreamed of this restroom several times over the years, and they were very terrifying dreams, and now it's actually been built. I got that feeling when I went in that restroom for the first time(I haven't been in it since, and don't care to go in there alone again). I just wanted to get out of there, and fast.
And then of course there are other times when I could be in a perfectly "safe" place, and I'll get that feeling and I'll have to escape. I think silence plays a great deal in it. It will just feel like there's
something there.
Even when I'm walking down the dark hallway to my bedroom at night, sometimes I'll have to hurry up and get in my room and close the door, otherwise I have that un-safe feeling. Weird.
So yes, you're not alone.
