Altho the new map with the "automatically marking places as icons" system would make it somewhat obsolete (unless you purposely dont "unlock" places you couldnt/wouldnt want to visit right away), id kinda prefer the old "coloring out" of areas too. As for custom notes, meh, theres still ye olde paper n pen ^.^
Gotta agree tho, the paper map is lame compared to the one of MW. Since i think its actually impossible to get lost anymore, the only purpose of it would be to mark stuff but for that its pretty much useless. :erg:

I imagine whatever it is would be worthless dialogue in comparison to the points that are raised against Oblivion's decision with maps.
You just keep thinking that, deary.

Yes, that bland, boring, nearly featureless brown map that came in the box. One wonders why they even bothered to print it.

Probably because the default interface doesn't let you see anything but your immedate surroundings.

Back to the maps: has anyone come up with a way to make notations on the damned things? Even just one or two words at each map location would be enough. All I want to do is come up with an easier way to keep track of where I've been, what dungeons I've cleared out, that sort of thing. Right now I'm writing shit down on notepaper (when I remember), and it's getting ugly.
There is a secret entrance to Ceyatatar a little bit to the southwest that takes you directly to a small locked room with an Ayeleid boss cask filled with the most amazing stuff. I got my full Journeyman Alchemy set there. Found the only staff of paralysis I've ever seen in the game there.
But the entrance is right out in the middle of the woods, very difficult to find. And the map does not create a waypoint for it after you find it. 'Cause it's a secret I guess. Everytime I visit, which is often, I have to go hunting through the woods looking behind every tree and there aren't any distinguishing landmarks to go by. Pisses me off it does. If only I could make a notation on the map!
