I played System Shock for the first time a few days ago, but I just beat SS2 again - by DentonSHODAN

Same here. When I played SS1 for the first (and only time as of now) time the texturing in the first level seemed awfully familiar. ;)

I had played SS1 at the time of its release, so the last level of SS2 was instantly familiar to me. I needed a cold shower.

Holy crap. I have problems with my inventory as it is.....
I may be stating the obvious, but if you have more than one laser pistol you can just press the key for that weapon and it automatically swaps to the next (fully loaded) laser pistol. And because a recharge station fills them all up, you hardly ever have to fiddle with them in the inventory.

That's not the point. The point is that carrying around one laser pistol takes up three inventory slots. Carrying around three or four takes up nine or twelve, respectively. It's a question of the size of your inventory, not switching between them. My problem is that, even with Strength 6, I have space issues, and that's when I'm carrying only one of each weapon that I have (usually the AR, Shotgun, Laser Rapier, and Grenade Launcher).

Carrying that many different weapons around isn't the smartest thing to do, especially since you also have to lug around all the different ammo types. Laser pistols, on the other hand, only take one type of ammo (batteries) that you'll probably be carrying around anyway.

That's certainly one thing that can be said for 'unusual' runs - you don't really have to worry about which guns or ammo to carry when you're only allowing yourself to use the stasis field genrator and the psi amp, for example.

True. And actually, one of those is always equipped. But still, the Laser Pistol just isn't as versatile. Plus, I use the batteries on StrengthBoost and EndurBoost implants; the Laser Pistol would have me splitting between the three, which isn't viable, especially in the BotM.

Why waste batteries? Nothing wrong with just running to the nearest recharging station whenever you're running low.

Sometimes, things don't go according to plan

True, but if you're carrying six laser pistols, you should be able to keep them charged mostly from recharging stations. Though battery packs are a lot more useful when that annoying "random recharge amount" bug is fixed.
