This is great to be able to copy and paste it, as it is easy to forget the space
after .exe -l:thumb:
If you do not know the drive letter of your cd rom drive, look in My Computer.
Your cdrom and your dvdrom and hard drives all have different letters.
d:\ is a common letter assignment, but they can change with added drives,
ect.

Well that happened. Turned out my drive is E but I managed to figure that one out. LOL I am so proud!! :weird:
It almost worked. It setup and I was ready to play then the screen went black.
Error,error, things to understand!!:joke:
"Error Direct 3d device driver does not accurately report texture memory usage. Contact your 3d accelerator vendor for an updated driver. UGH!!!:(
My video card is NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700LE. I found this when I went to run dxdiag under tab display.
Was that the wrong tab??
So sorry to be such a problem and I want to thank you all for helping me. I think I am almost there. At least it installed.

Now you need to install DDFix. Check thread named "DDFix and Enhanced Resolution Patch (including widescreen support)" in this forum for more info how to do it.

She dosent NEED it as she has a Geforce Fx card. But yes it would make Thief1/2 prettier, but you also have to consider the fact that on modern FM's, having DDfix installed will actually slow thief down on the system she has....

My knowledge of the Dark engine came from the problems I had getting the Dark games to work. After the Dark engine is done with you Hawklette, you'll be a tech savvy. ;)

The Dark Engine is definitely a fickle bitch.
I can play T2 with ddfix, but TG won't work with or without it. Don't know about SS2, but I'm sure it works fine.
A friend of mine with nearly identical hardware (and the exact same video card) as mine can't even install TG or T2, not even with the -lgntforce switch. No idea about SS2 on his rig.
As a result, I'm on the lookout for an old computer just to keep a few old games alive. I'm tired of fighting with new hardware.

I must be odd man out here. All 5 versions of the original two games and Gold run (and the FMs) on my system (XP) with no problems and no use of DDFIX.
TDS also runs with no problem.
