I'm just installing my new computer and one of the major issues off course is to install Thief and DARKLOADER ok.
I backed up all of my acounts and my downloads, but I can't put them onto my new computer.
I tried to look at TTLG, where there used to be download fractions for Darkloader and Fanmissions a.s.o.
I thought I could start all over again. But I can't find these downloads there anymore, not for the Darkloader issues or the FM's.
Please help?!!!

Gloria - it will probably help people help you if you can give some more info.
What OS is installed?
Dual-core or single core?
Have T1 & T2 installed correctly?
Why exactly can't you install the backups to the new computer?
Can't think what else to ask at the moment - hopefully someone with genuine tech knowledge (unlike me :tsktsk: ) will answer.
Edit 1: you can get custom scripts & DL(
http://thiefmissions.com/stuff.html) here.
Edit 2: you might consider also posting (with as much info as possible) on the 'Technical & Troubleshooting Arena'

I 'm not sure what you mean: I've downloaded all original Thief games again and put them in a new Thief directory.
I copied all files from the old computer on a usb-stick and put them into the same file on the new computer
The registers just don't follow up, so I guess, I may have to start all over again. But I don't know where to start or go ..... and I'm desperate right now.
Thanks for the try.

When you say new computer do you mean new version of windows as well? If you are moving from windows XP to Windows Vista then you will need all the help you can get...Vista's internal file structures are very different to XP, Vista also has something called User Account Control which basically locks down the program files folder and virtualizes any files that get created there by programs and puts them in virtual stores elsewhere on the PC. Meaning that if you run GL or DL in admin mode then user mode (or vice versa) you'll find that installing and uninstalling FMs gets messy as you may have installed an FM as a user which gets virtualized, then when you start as admin, the virtual store is no longer needed and thief doesn't access it to play so you play the original missions. Similarily if you install an FM as an admin, then go back into windows as a user thief will always play the FM you installed as an admin.....
I have no nice words to say about Vista.....
Windows 7 on the other hand, after using it for the past 2 months is very nice and suffers much less from Vista's painful User Account Control.
Anyway could you be a little more specific about exactly what you are trying to do and the specific issue?

Gloria.
Does your new computer run XP or VISTA?
What is the CPU chip? Intel model???? AMD model????
Single core or multi-core?
You can't "Install" from a USB Memory stick. You can copy the files into the new computer but the registry links won't be there.
You can try opening the THIEF folder. Locate the THIEF EXE in each game and "Send To" the desktop and see if that will fire up the game.
But the first two questions are the important ones at the moment.
What operating system (XP-VISTA) and what CPU chip (AMD-Intel and dual-core, triple-core, or quad-core).

Yep! Vista.:nono:
Should I get rid of it? :sly::ebil:
I know what yo mean.
I downloaded all Thief "stuff" again from the Circle .... but I can't use it.
I know I'm missing something BIG here.
I don't know what you mean by Dual or single/multi/core? for instance.
I'm sorry!!!

The CPU (the motor that runs your computer) has a name. I may be something like Intel XXX Quad core, or AMD XP Athlon 2 etc.
Look at the Control panel SYSTEM and see what it says about the CPU. In XP it shows up in the DEVICE MANAGER part. The General Tab, shows you the operating system the CPU name and number of cores, and the amount of Memory RAM you have.
A quick check is to run DXDIAG in the Start>Run> type DXDIAG in the blank and hit OK.
Then the first page will have all that information.
Note it and then tell us.

Hi Gloria, having Windows Vista installed is not a wise option, as it has many problems concerning the compatibility with many games, i´ve also updated recently my pc, installed the windows Xp, (new video card, new motherboead, processor, lots of space disk...etc) as usually you´ll need to install the thief 1 and 2 again, then you´ll need to install DDfix for each one, if you can´t find them ,i can provide you those patches, then install the last version of garretloader...and that´s it, apart for some missions that require scripts
