Hey where can I get a sword and/or how do I kill that smuggler in the cave by the strider? I have tried a dozen times in vain to kill him with my dagger but to no avail.
I just got this game yesterday but can't seem to do anything productive with it.

Ehm you can buy swords and amour at any trader?

The best sword, IMHO, when you're just starting out at the game can be found at the Fighter's Guild in Balmora (the first city you'll go to after Sedya Neen, in all likelihood). Talk to the black guy on the first floor of the Balmora Fighter's Guild, and buy his Jinksword. Paralyzes people for 10 seconds upon contact.

Take a trip to Balmora as suggested and pick your self up a sword from one of the traders.
If you're feeling particularly sneaky you can go looking in the four watch towers in Balmora where even a low level character can steal all manner of nice things e.g. a magic white sword of woe (tower nearest the spy masters house), a silver claymore, etc
I'm unsure of your experience but you sound like a noob (no offence ;) ) but make sure you check your skills to see which sword type will benefit you the most - short blade or long blade. I assume of course you have skills in these areas considering you are asking about a sword?
Also make sure you get some armour (if you are low on money the man you are told to find will give you 200 drakes) again make sure you purchase the right type i.e. heavy, medium or light depending on your skills.
When you are all kitted out take a trip back to the smugglers cave and nail the smugglers. ;)

Actually, the easiest way to get a sword (magical to boot) is to wander around a bit outside of Seyda Neen. If you cross the last bridge out of town (north, methinks) and wander around a bit just north of the town (the town should be out of sight) you may hear the sounds of someone casting, followed by the sounds of a "splat"...it seems there was an eccentric mage that had created scrolls of Icaran Flight (acrobatics = 1,000 for 7 second) who field tested them..unfortunately, what goes up, must come down...HARD. ANyway, he has two of those scrolls, a light armor helmet (looked like a conehead from SNL), an expensive robe & shoes plus an iron sparksword (longblade, i think).....trust me, he's out there and should be as far out as the remains of the tax collector, i think.
that made the smuggler's cave outside Seyda Neen much easier for me, as a custom character (mage-type)

Is there an all Weapons cheat? How about a nude patch? *snickers*
Forsythe on 4/7/2002 at 00:29
There's a chest that contains most of the weapons in the game, and one that contains most of the armor in the game; I suppose you could 'placeatpc' one of 'em, but I forget their object IDs. Anyone have an editor handy?
Edit: Okay, here's the object names: test_crate_all_weapons test_crate_all_armor So, the commands would be:
placeatpc test_crate_all_weapons 1, 256, 0
placeatpc test_crate_all_armor 1, 256, 0

You must be really stupid if you are just starting with Morrowind and you cheat to get all the best armor and swords. It will totally ruin the game for you. Maybe you should pkay with cheats after you finished the game. Your choice
