And you are just around the corner from my favorite cruising and loafing area, the San Juans, and the Straits of Juan De Fuca.
I also have a great weakness for the "inland passage" up the BC coast.

Mataia and Jones are two of our favorite islands. Here's hoping we get to spend some time out there, this year.

I used to summer at a camp leanto on the Northeast of Waldron Island 6 or 8 weeks in the summer.
Deep water with good "holding" ground off-shore just a few 10's of yards. The fishing (jigging for Cod) was a blast, and the pods of Orca that came by were a delight to hear and see.
Miss the area, and the campsite a lot.
Sadly, I no longer have either the boat(s) nor the campsite. Nor am I close enough to drive up as I used to.
Enjoy your cruise when you get the chance, and do post a few shots for us "landlubbers".

Ubuntu is great, as long as you run "stable" not the experimental kernel. It's very end-user friendly once you get it set up initially and the auto-update running. After that, it just happily runs along. I've had no problems with it that weren't caused by my husband mucking about in the background. It favors the GNOME apps and libraries, but it'll run other apps and so on if you tell it to. It's about the friendliest OS I've ever run. It's never had a problem with Firefox or my ass-backward attachment to KMail.
I haven't gotten it to play nice with WINE consistently, so I still have to boot up the Windows partition if I want to play a game, but that's about the only problem and that's WINE's fault, not Ubuntu's.

You live on a boat with a plethora of computers and a (insert collective noun here) of ferrets. You are officially my heroine!
Strangeblue on 14/3/2006 at 08:27
Well, hell. If I'd known that's all it took I'd have said so long ago! :cheeky:
(collective noun for a group of ferrets is "a business")

Fun with collective nouns \0/
1 - a dazzle of zebra's
2 - A plethora of lispers
3 - a leap of leopards
4 - a skulk of foxes
5 - a smack of jellyfish
6 - a murder of crows
7 - a business of ferrets
I make my own fun.

a conspiracy of monks
a murmur of nuns
a swagger of boys
a giggle of girls
a kettle of eagles
hmm... a "vanity" of peacocks... I can't remember
but I do know it's a flourish of strumpets
