Umm.. so how is this "original thief music"?
Ambient as a music genre has tons of tracks that could fit in thiefs atmosphere, as well as for all other games. Only thing in TROUMs work in bandcamp that i find thiefy, is the rather coarse compression they have on their tracks. It brings back memories of TDPs earlier days.

My issue is his calling it ORIGINAL Thief music for Thief. The only ORIGINAL Thief music was written by Eric Brosius, anything else is music that is similar to it, or might be considered a suitable replacement (if there was a need to replace it), or that has a Thiefy vibe, or might be of use to FM authors, etc.
Thank You for correcting me.
TBH, i didn't give the semantics I used much thought.

When you say compression do you mean frequency compression or bitrate(quality) compresion?
Because most of TROUM's stuff can be DL as high-quality FLAC.
I hear FLAC is superior to ALAC.

Compression as in quality. I understand they probably did that on purpose so no one could steal their music by recording it straight off from bandcamp, or something..
I don't know much about alac format, other than that it's lossless format just like flac is. I doubt one could hear the difference in those two.

:D
It's only the streaming stuff that has its bit-rate compressed.
Then if you like it, and you decide to buy the music, you will receive a higher quality version.(less compressed version)
mp3(low-quality), mp3(high-quality), FLAC and even WAV.
I think the compression that Bandcamp uses for its streaming must be most noticeable above frequencies my 32 year old ears can't hear. I couldn't hear any compression-artifacts or anything to suggest low-quality, and i can still hear the lows, mid-range, and highs okay. I have found the same to be true with the music i have streamed off of bandcamp in the past. I've never heard any strong compression artifacts then, either.
So to my ears at least, there is only a relative slight increase in fidelity between the (low)MP3 VBR version and the version you stream, but that's just my ears.
I try and always get the FLAC if my connection will oblige me that day.

I don't remember bandcamp compressing my tracks as much. It required me to upload my tracks there in wav format, so anyone who wanted to download it can get it as lossless audio. The streaming had its slightly reduced format for listening, but that wasn't too noticeable. I'd say it was close to good quality mp3.
Some of the tracks on Troums 2013 album don't sound like they are stereo audio. It never did to my tracks that kind of compression.

I would very much like to hear your music then. I am always keen to hear new music, do you have any links?
:)

Naahh.. i wouldn't call myself an artist really, it's more like hobby for me to try out some stuff every now and then. I deleted my bandcamp long ago, but i still have soundcloud profile under same name.

I think this is the first time I've seen someone type something different into the title field every single time they respond to a thread.

New experiences keep you young, apparently. Which reminds me . . .
