I just started playing a new character in the last couple of days (an assassin/thief type of character, for anyone who's interested). It's quite fun playing someone from the opposite end of the spectrum to my prior character, who was a staunch, honor-bound knight. In any case, I just wanted to share a little something I did today in the game with anyone who wants to know...
Today, I basically did a quest for the thieves guild that consisted of going to 'acquire' a Dwemer artifact from a local merchant in Pelagiad. So, I just basically stroll in the shop in question around midday, looking over the various wares offered. The merchant just stands behind the counter, while the guard glares at me, as if trying to remember (and name) every pore on my face. So, I stroll to a corner of the shop and 'crouch' to get a better view of certain inconveniently placed items. Tell-tale sound of jangling armor get louder and lourder, making me get up, turn around, and face the heavily armored guard. "Yeess?" is all he says. I just smile and saunter off to look at other stuff. While he's still in the corner making sure that all the inventory is accounted for, I take the stairs on the leftmost side of the shop and access the 2nd storey.
Now, at a quick glance, I don't really know where to throw myself: there are bags, crates and a couple of chest lying around. Hmmm, I think. But then, upon scanning the room, my gaze falls upon a little box high up on a shelf. I smile and quickly make my way over to the other side of the room. Now, that little box is high up on a shelf, but luckily enough, I notice a table near by. So I jump on the table and grab on of my lockpicks, and proceed to try to pick the lock. Click, damn... Click...Damn! Ka-Click! Yay! But what's that I hear? The clink of armor coming up the stairs??? Damn!! I hurry up and look into the box and it's as if all of a sudden time stops. A-hA! There's that Dwemer cup that I need! I quickly snatch it up, and get off the table just as the guard clears the stairs. Of course, I stand there just looking at his accusatory face. He just shuffles around, then turns his back to me. "Bad move, man" I think in my head. I quickly turn around, crouch, and snatch up a stray Silver Broadsword belonging to the merchant down stairs.
So, I go back down stairs, and just before leaving, I turn around and decide to try something. I tell the merchant I'd like to sell some items. Curious, he's glad to look over what I've got. So, I lay on the counter the Broadsword I just stole from him moments before. He looks it over, impressed with the worksmanship, and offers me 250 drakes. Smiling, I take the cash and make my way out of his shop.
There is truly not another feeling so satisfactory like selling someone their own stuff back! :cheeky:
Man I love this game...

*grin* Beautiful description of your lark, dhaelis ;) You're lucky, that broadsword must've not been tagged as 'belonging' to the merchant in question; they normally call the guards on your butt ;)
