I know that the ttlg crowd have very defined tastes in music but frankly there is far to little mention of the super group that is the Barenaked Ladies - these guys can capture sounds in an astonishing manner and with feeling... and playing live they are the best gig ever!
Unfortunately many people can not/will not look beyond the cult status or "comedy" style songs to see the real genius at work and so just pass them off as a bunch of clowns. So, any other lady lovers in these halls? I will count you if you can name one of the songs that isn't (the admittedly still fabulous) One Week…without looking at the "Stunt" track list.

I went to one of their gigs. My mate had a spare ticket so it cost me nothing. Boy was I glad I didn't pay to see that. Dull, dull, dull.
As for naming a song that isn't "One Week" - difficult, as they're all pretty much identical.

-- I think what I am feeling for you is pity. Yeah pity, that must be it. Pity for your lifeless and dead soul... :nono:

Right, because God forbid that someone has different tastes to you.
Y'know, it's great that you like them, but they bored me to tears. I generally prefer a little more sophistication in the music I listen to, that's all. You wanted opinions - there's mine.

I love Stunt, I played it to death and I still love it.
I didn't like the bonus 'live' CD that came with it, nor did I like subsequent albums very much.
But Stunt is awesome and has the kind of sophistication you just don't find in Liverpool.
TAKE THE BAIT STRONTS

Pinch Me

If I Had a Million Dollars
The last one being so cloying and annoying that it makes Adam Sandler songs seem like Zappa in comparison.

Hey, no fear, I respect your opinion - I just pity it too. :p I suppose I could bite and ask how you define sophistication? Is it not complex melodies, meaningfull lyrics with poignant interpretations. Is it not sophisticated to produce bloody great tunes that have a respect for music as an art; a respect even to the extent that seriousness can be wavered in return for good old fashion fun?
I reckon that the albums following stunt gain more in context with the albums before stunt, it is an evolving sound :). You should take a look at their back catalogue. :thumb: maybe you should drive, born on a pirate ship, Gordon... oh and rock spectacle.
I forgot that everyone also knows “million dollars” too… I would list my favourite tracks, but that is pretty much all off them, and I suppose I could pick my favourite album – but again, they are all too great… :ebil:
