I know I read that . . . - by TheNightTerror

This is a little odd, but has anyone else noticed threads they've read already showing up as having new posts? It's been getting a tiny bit annoying, there are an armful of threads which I can load and reload as many times as I want, but they keep on showing up as having new posts in the user control panel. :weird: Was there an update done recently maybe?
Edit: just thought I'd quickly add that this doesn't seem to happen with older threads. For example, I read a Thief FM help thread that had a new post in it, it was started a month ago, and that one was properly marked as having no new posts afterwards. However, this thread wasn't marked.

It's been going on for ages now. Dave said there is nothing he can do.

It becomes fixed with vB 3.5 (currently in Release Candidate 3 stage) as it uses database/filesystem/cookies to track which threads have actually been read.

Ah, okay, good to know. It's definitely gotten worse in a hurry, before I only noticed it when I was the last person who posted in a thread, but now it's at the point where my e-mail notifications are getting a little messed up. No biggie, though. :) So, any idea how long the wait for the new VB version will be?

Unfortunately not, although I expect it prior to Christmas.

Hehe.
This is probably going to be the last release candidate, as only 'minor' bugs like spelling mistakes and design issues have been reported with the current RC (plus some wierd AOL login problem). I would say within 2-4 weeks. They are probably trying to fix these bugs ASAP and release the gold version as IPB just released their 2.1 FINAL version.
Stay tuned for AJAX. :)

Shouldn't take more than a couple of all-night'ers. ;)
