If it said something like;

then I think you have to go through the 'black path method'. Check back on the spoilers forum search history and you should find the related threads

i killed Yagrum Bagarn to!(i killed many people)
but i can't kill vivec he is stil too strong for me!(what is his weakness?)
if i just kill vivec will i still need to confront the tample or not?

Nope, there's no way for you to finish the game now without using the console to cheat. If you're on an X-Box, you may as well start over.
Either way, next time please pay attention to 'little' things like a big popup saying "the thread of destiny has been severed" (or whatever it is) when you kill someone. :p
