Alright, I'm pissed off enough that I am about to put my fist through my Laptop monitor. So bear with me while I vent. I was working on the face generator making a Breton(animalistic faces are a hell of a lot easier I realized), so I could try out the magic aspect of the game. I was going to make it as similar to mine as possible, or if I couldn't, maybe a young raistlen. I also happen to have a bad habit at being a perfectionist. I hate the face generator mostly because a lot of the sliders are tied together, screwing up all the minor tweeks I wanted. So, 1 hour and 30 minutes later, I got neither face, but I did end up with a face that I was satified with. Well except the mouth, I can never get a satisfactory mouth.
But then I got curious, and decided to play with the age slider, to see what my character would look like 20-30 years down the road. ?I though it was strange the faces looked similar to the ones from when I made my nord. When I went back to the correct age, there was a different face! The stupid age thing just gives you the default for that age and complexion and undid ALL of my work, so I shut my game off and sat there steaming for like 10 minutes. I feel like I'm gonna snap something in half. If you took the time to read this, thx.
Oh, and may as well post a question. Is there a mod yet that removes the ties between the face sliders so that one can customize their characters more?

I pulled the beard sliders to far right and my character's torso turned purple.
I don't know either.

I've seen a couple/few mods that do something with the face sliders, don't know if they make them all independent, but maybe

Well, calmed down enough to try again. Got a semi-decent face. But once the game started it looked completely different!!! The shadows in the creation make it really hard to see what your doing...What I thought looked tan became a pale white. The face was rounder than it initially looked. and the head didnt match the body. I was going for a frail mage. The stupid breton is completely ripped, like he could bend steel with 2 fingers.
AAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHH! Kahjiit are a hell of a lot easier to work with, but I will make a decent looking Breton, even if it kills me!

I assume you are turning it a LOT. I found that it will look tons different than you think unless you keep turning it to see all the angles.

Remember, if you have the console active, you can SAVE while you're fiddling with the face. I find this very useful, combined with the fact that you can edit your face through the console even after you exit the sewers (better lighting conditions), even if you do have to do tricks to prevent the game from crashing...
LancerChronics on 25/4/2006 at 09:45
really? you can save while making the face? That would extremely help.
Yes, I do turn the face a lot, I am trying to make it match known faces, after all.
Edit: Tried this morning. Wasn't a bad face, but the damn thing went pale and blotchy on me. And why the hell do breton have muscles?! Maybe i should just make a female, hoping they aren't covered with 300lb bench-pressing muscles.

I think the head size is a pretty common problem. My barbarian looks like he has a tiny head - especially when he wears Daedric Armor.
In other news, I was considering putting Oblivion in a window and then bringing up a headshot of myself, changing it to 50% opacity, then editing the character to have a face that matches mine almost exactly. If I ever get around to it, I'll let you guys know how it turns out.
