I had a dream... - by bukary

...I was playing new ascottk's FM. All I remember is that I was walking some narrow street while - suddenly - some bird (raven?) appeared in the sky. It landed on one of the roofs... It looked amazing. :)
So... are there any birds possible in T3Ed? We have flying animals (bats) in DromEd. What about T3Ed? Any suggestions?

Well, you could always make a Will o' Wisp, give it a path high up in the sky, and give it a static mesh that looks like a bird. :) Assuming you can get custom static meshes in, because I doubt there are any suitable ones in the game already.
As for giving it actual AI, I don't remember seeing flying creatures in T3... how do people do it in Dromed?

Nice dream! I've been meaning to look into the birds because I had the same idea about having a raven swoop in at the start of the Labyrinth. We do have raven & seagull skeletal meshes (also flies). In fact I'll look into it now.
Wow, there's a lot of deleted ambient creatures:
Bat
Fish
FlyingInsect
PhosphorousFish
Pigeon
Spider
A lot of them don't have any skeletal meshes :p

There was not much problem with flying creatures in DromEd, because there were Fire Elementals in the game. Therefore there was "AI -> AI Core -> Movement: Z Offset" property responsible for 'floating' already implemented.
And we have nice bats: :)

I can't get the animations to work :erg: Maybe I need to change the parent in the actor browser. I even added tags to the skeleton browser. I have no idea why the animatinos won't play.

You can't make flying AIs unfortunately. AIs have to be on the Navmesh. That's why the pigeons in DX:IW would just walk around on the ground, even if you jumped on their heads :tsktsk:

The seagull has a walking animation so I out one on the ground. Still nothing.

Is it not possible to create a platform (Like a skybox) at a certain hight above the level and have birds "walk" along that?
