I got so frustrated, I burst out laughing. HELP - by Poetic thief

After spending three hours, I'm starting to crack at the seams. I can't get Thief 2 movies to play.
They don't play in any media player, and consequently don't play in game, which causes a crash at the start of every mission.
I tried ddfix, Scrooge's permanent fix, downloading k-lite codec pack, downloading the new indeo codecs, trying to re-install the old iv5play.exe doesn't work becuase it claims I have a newer version of the indeo codec....nothing works. Spent three hours searching around the various internetS, so trust me, I've tried all the usual fixes, now I need some creative ideas.
Strangely enough, Thief Gold works perfectly fine  The movies don't play in a media player, but they play in game. Thief 2 , on the other hand, the movies won't work in a media player nor in game.
This is a vista 32 machine with direct x 10
Edit: I believe that that pesky little "LGVID.AX" file has something to do with my troubles. Or windows media player 11. I know that Thief is attached to Windows Media Player, and the avi movies crash whenever I use windows media player, but if I use another player like VLC player, they don't crash but play audio only. So the issue is somehow related to windows media player 11 being unable to play these avi files.
IF push comes to shove, will someone be nice enough to re-encode the movies and send them to me? :(

No responses? :( The caverns echo with the demoniac laughter of a crazed mind. In the darkest corner, there sits an old man with a long, scruffy beard. His bony fingers barely clutch an ancient, battered copy of a Thief 2 CD.
In between his crazy laughter, the old man murmurs "I just wanted to play Thief 2...Alas...I just wanted to play..." His murmurs fade unheard like a quiet echo on the wind and once more he erupts in a fit of demoniacal, crazed laughter.

I'm in the same boat (vista 32 machine) and I have never been able to get the movies to play no matter what I tried. :erg:

Are you running Thief as administrator?

OK, I guess my poetic style / attempt to be funny is confusing people.
THE GAME ITSELF WORKS FINE, it's just that I am unable to play any of the movies, either in game or in windows media player. I have already tried the codecs and suggested fixes posted in the FAQ.
Since the movies seem to be the only issue, I was wondering if someone could be kind enough to re-encode them in a more popular format, and make them available for people in my position.

VICTORY !! I am no longer doomed to the fate of going crazy in a solitary cavern for I have found a way to make it work !
Open a command prompt Start --Run-- type cmd press enter
Then execute the command:
regsvr32 ir50_32.dll
Apparently the Indeo Installer didn't register this dll on Windows Vista.
Moderators, you should probably add this as option Four "If all else fails" in the movies section of your big FAQ.
