I don't see why the guns still shoot enemies if I turn the camera off and set the turrets to attack enemies. After all, when I turn the cameras off, the guns don't attack me. Don't the guns need the cameras to "see" the enemies?
question two - why do the guys in suits explode after they die?
Deiyen on 8/6/2002 at 06:20
Oooh ooh ooh! I know this one!!
In the secret MJ12 facility, there was a datacube on information about "Series P" agents. The datacube describes the function you're referring to.
"Key features from the Series N agent will also be carried over, including the self-termination mechanism. An ingenious variation of the 'kill-switch,' the self-termination mechanism is wired into the autonomous nervous system of an agent. If mortally wounded, the mechanism will activate and explode, eliminating any evidence of the agent and damaging nearby hostiles."
That's only an excerpt from the datacube. There's a bit more, but I'm too lazy to type it all out. As to the guns... I have no clue...
Edit: Ahem... typos...
Edit again: Ragh! Found more typos

Darn. I knew I should have memorized all those datacube messages. Thanks Deiyen.
The gun turret question is still open.
Deiyen on 8/6/2002 at 07:07
Well, you don't really have to memorize 'em, it's just a question of finding them. Once you right-click a datacube, the message is instantly saved in your... mind? Just go to the goals/notes screen and look for it. If it's not there, then you either missed the datacube, or you deleted the note.

I'd say just chalk the gun turret question up to "nanotechnology".
Chimpy Chompy on 8/6/2002 at 12:56
Sorry if this has been discussed before... but what exactly ARE the series P agents? They're not mech-aug or nano-aug (I think a log somewhere says as much)... so how are they made and what makes 'em tougher than normal people?
Cyborg on 8/6/2002 at 13:07
I think they are a bit like Cyborgs.
Maybe they are machines. Half human, half machine or something.
Their face would explain the "machine" thing, their face is white. Not real blood and tissue you know. Their voice is a bit "electronical" as well. Not humanish.

I believe there's a datacube somewhere (perhaps the same one Deiyen quoted from) that refers to the MiBs as chemically augmented.

Ragghhh! Don't make me type it all out! [hopes ICEBreaker will hop in with the quotes just about now] FINE! BE THAT WAY!!
Quote:
From datacube found in Nanotech Lab of secret MJ12 facility beneath UNATCOPROSPECTUS: SERIES P AGENTS proposal by Dr. Arthur Donovan (Versalife/HK)
The Series P Agents are the logical continuation of research resulting from the Series N: the development of a human agent with enhanced capabilities and absolute loyalty, but without the non-standard appearance of mechanical augmentation or the unpredictability of nano-augmentation. Like the Series N, the strength and speed of the Series P should be substantially above baseline while new conditioning techniques will result in minimal pain response. We conservatively predict a Series P agent would be 78% more effective in combat than a normal operative without any form of augmentation.
Key features from the Series N agent will also be carried over, including the self-termination mechanism. An ingenious variation of the 'kill-switch,' the self-termination mechanism is wired into the autonomous nervous system of an agent. If mortally wounded, the mechanism will activate and explode, eliminating any evidence of the agent and damaging nearby hostiles.
However, we are still continuing in our attempts to isolate the source of the albino traits present ever since the Series L, but so far the simple addition of sunglasses and dark clothing appear to have resolved the matter in a practical fashion...
So these agents are augmented humans as well, but Chimpy Chompy is right, neither mechanically augmented, nor nano-augmented.
How it's done, I'm not sure.

Sorry I wasn't on lately.
