Suprisingly, I'm impressed.

I'm a fan of self-made music. Whenever someone grabs a guitar and starts singing like they mean it I'm the first to swoon. Authenticity does a lot for me.
That said, I guess I'm not the right audience for this one since I don't like the musical style you're emulating: Voice tuned generic dance chart tracks. You're getting pretty close to what can be heard on the radio but even that doesn't really impress me, since I always assumed that anyone with a computer and some time on their hands could make this kind of music.

Hey thanks guys.
I definitely apppreciate the honesty, and really I've only fell to the "pop" electric like music because..well that's what this music world is flipping to.
I've worked with lots of great bands but its like they never get the time of day. I've picked up instruments and sang many times, and while I'm not a fan of todays lack of quality, powerless, meaningless music I do realize the demand.
Anyone with time on their hands can attempt any form of music, but that doesn't mean it'll be good. You still need ear for what's catchy, popular, musical. Still need to know how to use your tools. Remember its not the technology its the user.
No matter if you're mixing a full piece orchestra or 10 track pop song. You still need the talent to do so. I live in Atlanta and there's massive amounts who think its simple. So you hear a bunch of s** trinket made songs.
Funny thing is I listen to new age, soul, 80s, celtic, country music (lol).
Anything I produce I make sure it has meaning.
This was sort of a careless, drunk, chant like song (lol) However, the message.. "hey we're in dire times, I have no money, losing my job, but I don't give a damn I'm going to party even still". Swallow your problems by use of a cold bottle. I suppose anyone in their right mind would know that doesn't annihilate your issues (haha) but it was meant to be fun.
I'll definitely post up some of my finer material after copyright.
Thanks for listening! Heck rather you like it or not its still hard to get heard! ;)

I'll second that this would be an incorrect assumption. Granted, it is an easy one to make. If someone is playing the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto, the skill involved is plainly visible. If someone else throws open their Macbook Pro and starts pushing a few buttons in Live, the skill is much less apparent. Yes, computers can sequence, they've done it for decades. But *what* are you sequencing, eh? *EVERY* bit of what's going on, even down to the waveform, is under your control, which means you *have* to control it, because even the best programs out there can't make those choices for you - or at least not make them well. There are a lot of great music programs - GarageBand, Live, Reason, Pro Tools, etc., but the power of these programs comes in how they streamline common tasks and processes. But learning what you want and how to get what you want, that's all you.
As for this - not to my taste either. This is what my bassist/percussionist/sideman extraordinaire does in his spare time: (

Exactly
Just like I said its the person behind the technology.
Ableton is lovely! I actually enjoy it more than pro-tools.
I've received a major check from a piece I put together in FL Studio lol.
This is how you know that it's the user with technology assistance.
I like the music you posted Schechter it's great.
It's funny about a year or so ago I did a similar song to "sic".

I love Ableton! When I was doing some very basic recording years ago I borrowed a copy of Adobe Audition, and was able to use that well enough. Kind of. I tried a demo of Acid Pro once, but despite all the claims of it making loops dead simple I never was able to put together anything with it. I learned that the technical end of recording is best left in other hands - I'd *so* much rather play with actual instruments than with knobs and faders.
Live was the first (and only) program where I was able to get things going right from the start. Session view works very much like how I think, particularly with editing and processing clips, and from there I've been able to work with the arrangement view as well.
Aaron, the guy who wrote 'sic', does all his stuff completely in GarageBand, and does an awesome job with it, but I still don't know how to use it. For some reason, it's the same with every other music program except Live - I just look at it and go 'now what?' For some reason, Live just clicks with me. Something we're going to have to work on at some point.

Not exactly my genre of music, but well done within the genre. Nice job!
