Do you want him to be your dad? If you don't really care about that, perhaps you should just leave another message and say that you aren't ready to have him be your dad but you stuill want to get to know him... Perhaps that will make it easier to contact you if that is indeed his problem...
Sorry man, if it makes you feel any better, I haven't been on good terms with my dad since I was born, or rather, he hasn't been on good terms with me... Dad's suck! ;)

I think depression is anger turned inwards.So since your dads behaviour doesn't seem to make sense your blaming yourself for a fractured relationship.
The other problem is in your Dad saying your relationship is just fine.This is "crazy making" from your perspective because of the double message of what he said,(that your relationship was just fine)then kicking you out for no reason.
Sounds like your Dad is fractured within himself and obviously not a good communicator or comfortable with intimacy.
Stop blaming yourself and if needs be get some counseling to try and sort it out.
You don't need to figure out your Dad but deal with the scars it may have caused you.
But most of all stop blamng yourself
