I bought the "preview edition" of deus ex a few days ago, I didn't think there was a difference between this and the original. The CD says v1003f_OE. I assume this means version 1.003. I used the search feature on the msg boards and found only one post that talked about the version 1003. He thought it was the demo but I've gotten farther than the demo allowed me.
When I run the patch, it asks me to select the folder, when I click next it tells me that Deus Ex has to be installed in order to patch and it says:

Version: 1001f
Developer:
Is 1001f the version that comes on the original CD?

I'm pretty sure you didn't buy the full version. that preview edition is only like 1/3 of the game or something close to that.
