What would the difference be between that and Invisibility?
The invisibility effect breaks if you perform ANY action (eg opening doors). Under Ryushi's proposal, Chameleon would allow you to do anything but attack an enemy (at which point I guess you become visible again).
It's quite an interesting idea, and it would certainly eliminate some of the problems with chameleon. In my chameleon armor I feel invincible - nothing can see me to attack me, nothing tries to defend itself from my attacks, and I get a 6x damage bonus if I'm crouched while attacking, meaning I can take down even Gloom Wraiths and Goblin Warlords with 4 or 5 blows. Clearly it unbalances the game a great deal.

Yeah that's about it; it would disable your attack all together, but allow you to still perform actions. Invisibility remains useful for providing a single shot.

Any magic for lockpicking?
You can buy spells for opening very easy, easy, average, and hard locks from the Mage's Guild. Have to make your own spell for very hard locks.

Is this still true post-patch?
The ideal solution for me would be 100% Chameleon being roughly equivalent to what 50% chameleon is now. That way it would work the same way without destroying game balancing, and would no longer act as a super-replacement for invisibility (retaining invisibility's usefulness in certain situations ex. bright lighting).
Is this something that could be done in the CS? I haven't tooled around at all with the new one to see if you can affect basic game mechanics.

Any magic for lockpicking? Pleeeease!:erm: I was said there supposed to be one...Some spell?
Just go find the
Nocturnal's shrine (northeast of Leyawiin) and do that mission and you get skeleton key, which is lockpick that never breaks. The mission is pretty easy with small amount of fighting.
THAT is worth gold! Thank you!:)

I actually don't use my skeleton key any more because I want to increase my Security skill (it's a major skill). So I prefer to just carry around a few hundred lockpicks :p

It may be hard at first but as you progress, assuming you try and get good stat bonuses at level up, you will become ridiculously overpowerd.
Basically, do as many daedric quests early on as you can, gets you some fancy equipment.

After creating a Thief Character, I finally got fairly skilled at lockpicking. Enough to unlock most locks from level one, anyway. My timing still needs work though.

... but to cast the stronger open lock spells mean you need correspondingly higher Alteration magic skill ...
Learn to listen for the second click when you push up a pin as a sign that you have a split-second opportunity to lock it in place. With lots of personal practise, concentration and luck, you can open a 5-pin (Very Hard) lock on Novice skill without breaking too many lockpicks ...
