My mates and I did that for It Came From the Desert, each taking a couple of parts and narrating them for the edification and amusement of the others. Good times.
Me too - my friend was better at escaping from hospital in a wheelchair than me, and better at the overhead grenading of ants which was too stressful for me. I made the RPG decisions and flew the plane spraying insecticide. A great game with loads of replay value. One of the few games where, when I died, I didn't mind starting the whole thing again ad trying new options. It was my main Xmas present the year it came out, and I played ti for the whole of the holidays so have a soft spot for it.

I was the pistoleer of our group, myself.

I remember shooting off antennae - if I failed it always felt as if it was my fault, never because the game was unfair.
I have a copy for my Amiga emulator, I must dig it out and relive it again.

Gaaaahhh! Fucking finally - I killed SHODAN on skill 3333. It took me bloody ages until I went ahead and underclocked my E8400 to 2Ghz. Before I was getting 3 seconds with her before getting completely faced, 11 seconds until game over. I managed it on cyber 1 but with 3 it's just impossible.
Time: 5:50:27, kills: 766, regenerations: 60, difficulty index: 36, score: 4723022. And I finished the game without a single grenade or bomb left and I used all my flechette ammo. it's probably my favourite weapon, since you don't get the skorpion until the very end - even on hard you can take out almost any enemy by unloading an entire magazine of splinter into them, and it takes no more than two seconds. In fact, aside from the skorpion and perhaps the magpulse, I don't think there's a better weapon.

It's a little bit difficult but with a 3 GHz (single)core i had never problems.

Difficult 3233 (plot 2, cause i don't like the timelimit and see my posting above).
Time: 9:58:45
Kills: 810
Regenerations: 0
Difficulty Index: 31
Score: 6919178

I bought A KVM switch so I can keep my old rig around just to play SS1. (Yes, I have SSP on my Vista box, but it never played or felt right.)
I've finished it at least 6 times, but this thread is going to make me play it again. In my opinion, it is tied as the best game in PC gaming history. (Alpha Centauri being the other.)

Well I just conquered System Shock I after what I would say is 3 or 4 years. This is probably the 7-10 time I have finished the game.
I beat it in 7 hours, 20 minutes which means had I done the hardest plot setting I would have failed :(
For some reason I kept running out of Medical Supplies until I reached the midpoint of Systems Engineering level.
Level 8 - Security remains my favorite level in this game, and Level 6 - Executive.
Now onto System Shock 2 :D

I have to say i've never tried on the timed difficulty setting yet....i was always afraid of failing. Maybe i should give it a go. Honestly though, it's just not me. Some of my favourite times during the game are staring out the windows!

it's like how old people can't move on to new modern music, instead they still listen to classical... some people just can't let go of the past and look into the future... there are heaps of games these days which are better than SS1...
steo on 17/4/2009 at 12:59
No. It's like people who still enjoy and listen to a lot of modern music but can also appreciate classical music for how great it is. Which is a lot better than damning classical music because they hadn't yet invented the electric guitar.
