I'd think you better post what type of system and config you are using before someone could help you.

That guide was thrown together for people who can't get it to run in Windows. You haven't told us what OS your using either. If your using any of the w9* OS's , then do a search here for that, as a boot disk won't give you any sound if you don't have any dos drivers.
If you would like to run it in XP Pro, NT and 2000, you should use the following program to play sound with any DOS game: VDMSound Project

Who is the maker of the on-board sound chip? Consult your motherboard manual for details.

The web site (
http://www.stygianabyss.com/uwfaq/) does not even mention uwsound.exe. This is odd.:weird: Use uwsound.exe to check the IRQ and tell us the result.
Back in 386's age when UW1 came out, Sound Blaster family cards (including clones) usually specify IRQ7 for the sound card by default. However, around the time of the introduction of 486, IRQ7 was reserved by LPT1 since then, thus SB cards' default IRQ became 5. If you don't change IRQ setting by uwsound.exe, UW would assume your sound card is using IRQ7 and no sound would come out.
Speaking of DOS driver(s) for your on-board sound chip...i'd say it's almost impossible to get one, since your motherboard is way too new, and those on-board sound chips were designed in mind for people who don't want to fiddle with IRQ, DMA, etc. I'd suggest go to get a used, low-end card like SB16. A genuine one is better, not because of the brand name, but it's easier to find a 100%-compatible driver for it. My SBPro2 needs no driver on my 486DX2-50 to play UW1 anyway, and I'm still using it.:cheeky:

Around 6 months ago or so, someone emailed me asking for the SB DOS legacy drivers as they had an onboard sb chip. According to him, he got it working.
