(
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stinky_tofu) Stinky Tofu
As the name suggests, it reeks. i consider myself an adventuresome eater, but i almost barfed this one up. My rule of thumb with food adventure is try anything twice - but both bites were awful.
i watch Bizzare Foods with Andrew Zimmern religiously on the Travel Channel, and, when he did Taiwan last week, Stinky Tofu was the headliner. My Taiwanese coworker took me to a little Taiwanese restaurant to try this, and he laughed at me the whole time. Stinky Tofu really is a stinker - ugh... i think i can still smell it coming up the back of the throat into the nose. Barf.
Formosa's given quite a bit to the world, but what this is ain't part of any kind of goodness.
Anyone else tried this torture known as Stinky Tofu?

You're gonna want to change that title.

Clearly it stinks - but how does it taste?

My dog eats its own poo. We started putting hot sauce on it to train her not to.
Thankfully, we don't have a chihuahua.

I tried it once, and I think I liked it :)

Chihuahua? I heard it was stringy and tough.

I've tried Stinky Tofu when I was in HK and it was ok. The dish that I ate it with was mixed with pork and a slightly hot sauce though so I can't comment on what it would taste like on it's own.
The first and only time that I have eaten dog, my best friend and I went back for seconds but that had more to do with our intoxicated state at the time, engaging in a drinking competition with Vietnamese army cadets in Hanoi. Dog is a tough, dry meat and more of a coming of age dish than a delicacy in that country, from what I could gather.

You ever see a dog try to eat an onion? Funniest thing I ever saw.

Yeah, some foods shouldn't be touched with anything less than a six foot pole.

Smelly tofu is an acquired taste. It sure does stink and the first time you eat it it's pretty nasty as it seems to taste like it smells. But persevere and you will come to understand it's charms. Best as chilli hot smelly tofu, and not good before or on a date.
