In the third of Caius's quests, he sends you to see Sharn gra-Muzgob as an informant. In speaking to her, you come to realize that she's hiding something about being a necromancer. The game gives you a quest called "I am NOT a Necromancer". The Morrowind companion guide gives you hints to find her book on necromancing near by and confront her with it. I have found one copy in a chest that sits right in front of her.
Has anyone ever completed this quest? Because the chest is sitting right in front of her, she's going to see you steal it, report your crime, and bring the wrath of all the nearby mages down on you. I don't think this is the way the quest is supposed to work. Anyone know how to do this?

There's probably another way around it. Try reading more about the quest in your journal, talking to the quest giver, or talking to Sharn whats-her-face. Go over everything - you might have missed something important to draw her away from the chest.
If all else fails, get a 100% Chameleon spell that lasts a few seconds. Quickly unlock the chest while chameleon'ed (heh) and then cast it again if it runs out before snagging the book inside.
I don't remember the quest, but I'm sure I didn't have to do that to complete it. Best of luck to you.

If you steal the book and show it to her, she'll teach you some summon undead type creature spells or something.
Either get really high sneak and turn her around when she auto greets you, or use a high Chameleon.
