This sounds exactly like that old VIncent Price movie called, The Last Man on Earth, which was re-made into the OMEGA MAN w/Heston.

They're all based on the same novella, "I Am Legend." :p

Okay, seen it. The nightwalkers were of less vampiric and more 28 days sort. I did like that better as it seemed to make them more sinister particularly as they demonstrated intelligence in a, well, more demonstrable way. The lack of background music added to the atmosphere and the ability to shock when something did happen and that too was better.
The story was changed a bit as it would have to be given the advances but it wasn't particularly bad. Overall it should have been longer but Smith was able to portray in a short amount of time the pain of isolation if not the rigor of routine within it. I give it a B. I liked the dog as a symbol of last connection to family and humanity.

I saw it this weekend. I was expecting it to be a bad movie (e.g. Wil Smith, Hollywood) but I was pleasantly surprised it was good. Not bad, not great, but definitely watchable. I too did like the fact that the horde demonstrated some intelligence in combating the Fresh Prince.
