Yeah, I'm getting really sick of CGI stuff for everything. It really went downhill after you started seeing a lot of them.

Did anyone actually notice the good CGI in 'I Am Legend'? The covers on buildings, billboards, the destroyed bridge and apparently even some of the overgrown weeds were CGI.

sucky CG... and the only thing that was decent was how fucked up NYC looked.

Oh, I knew the desolated NYC look was due mostly to very good use of CGI, which is why I only loudly complained about the shitty look of the infected.
Mind you, at the beggining of the movie, when they enter that dark place and he finds a nest of'em sleeping, they actually looked decent (probably for the same fact that it was pitch black). Loved that scene.

Couldn't agree more.
I finally saw this on DVD--and it was abysmal. In contrast, the original with Vincent Price was done well, while the Omega Man version was laughable. Though they didn't use as many film cliches as one would think (unlike, oh say Transformers), they did do their far share of illogical plot-techniques. One of my sticking points was the silly notion that the mutant dogs wouldn't just run through those tiny slivers of light (as it wouldn't hurt that much!) and gnaw Will Smith's face off--something I'd personally love to see.

I thought that whole part, if unrealistic, was pretty well done. It did manage to be pretty tense.
The problem for me is no monster really lives up to the fear in anticipation of a monster.
