The Immortal Hero is *just* restricted to no reloading/save and exit.
Ironman also includes not using town services, not repeateadly clearing out levels for phat lewt and exp, etc, etc.

I guess it's closer to Immortal Hero then.

Almost died doing the Anvil Mages Guild recomendation. When the Apprentice says 100% weakness to magic, it really means it. I don't quite get how it works though. Is it 100% less chance to resist or 100% more damage?

Weakness is a bad, bad thing.
AFAIK, first resistance to something is check your ability to resist it; any resistances and weaknesses are combined to get a total (a 100% weakness with an item that grants 20% resistance results in an 80% weakness.)
The resulting percentage is applied to the damage and you get hit with the total.
Hmm.
The equation seems to be Damage x Multiplier = Total.
The multiplier is arrived at by combining any relavant weaknesses and resistances.
A Breton with the Apprentice birthsign, for example, would suffer double damage from
any magicka attack if they didn't have any protection.
If this Breton was hit with a flare spell, for example, (s)he would suffer (6x2.00=12) 12 points of fire damage.
If a Dark Elf with the Apprentice birthsign was hit with the same flare spell (s)he would only suffer (6x1.75=10.5) 10.5 points of fire damage which would probably round up to 11 since Dark Elves have a natural 25% resistance to fire damage.
[Edit]
While Willpower is supposed to provide protection against magicka attacks (it gives a hidden resistance to magicka, I think) I don't know the formula.

Dark Elves have 75% fire resistance, but yeah, that how I suspected it worked. I'm finding I have to take extra care with anything that casts magic. Wisps are going to be a bitch.

Just my luck to forget the percentage that Dark Elves resist fire...and to forget that Bretons have a natural resistance to magicka attacks.
Bah.

I'm busy doing other stuff in Oblivion, but I know if I "Immortal Hero'd' it, I would definitely use Breton.
Magic damage is much more spiky in this game than melee.
