I. Am. Ironman! - by NeoPendragon

Anyone planning on Ironmanning this after they're done with they're first character? I've been toying with the idea but I want to wait for a couple good mods to be released (slower leveling and better loot tables).

Would Ironmanning in Oblivion entail completing the entire main quest without using services in town (other than what would be required to complete quests)?
Becuase with regenerating mana and a healing spell (and finding cots) I don't know how hard that would be (then again I've done all of delivering the Amulet to Jauffre of the main quest), I don't think I would though, Oblivion seems much more of a roleplaying and exploration game than an intense "fight the monsters and go deeper into the dungeon" than say, Diablo, so I don't think I'd enjoy it to much.

It would intail doing whatever you want. I thought it would be pretty fun to post your character's life story from the Imperial jail to death. The game's difficulty seems good for this. I only find myself dying when I'm careless or unprepared.

Possibly no skill training?

What is ironmanning?

Not really sure, but I think it means that you play realistically. Like if you die or something, you have to start over. You can't just load a game if you become a vampire, make a mistake and get killed, etc.
I might try playing like that with my second character.

That sounds like an incredibly painful way to play a video game, and not fun at all.

It gets the blood flowing, that it certainly does.

Neo, I am up for it after I finish this game. It might be a while, but I am not playing ANY other characters until my Khajiit finishes the main quest and becomes head of his 2 major guilds. After that, I would be cool with it. Anyone else? Sounds fun!!! It would be great to read the stories, even if your character didn't last but 3 hours.

All I know is how to do it for Diablo, which is to take a character and go from level 1 in the Church through beating Diablo without going back to town for anything, no repairs, no potion buying, no item IDs, nothing. If you die, it ends, unless you're doing MP in which case a fellow player may revive you with a res scroll. Other than that, you use what you find. It sounds like a lot of fun, but when you get to level 3 with two clvl 6 characters and Leoric is right next to the stairs, you're basically fucked (we're going to try again though!)

Generally it means that if you die, you're finished. No reloading. I probobly should have have said that but I thought it was a fairly common term.

Yeah same here, I'm about in the middle of the main quest AFAIK.
