Maybe it's different there, but the-older-guy-who-was-still-living-on-campus-in-order-to-party- with-freshman-when-everyone-else-his-age-had-real-apartments* was sorta looked down upon by all involved.
This is the thing, I've done the real apartment thing and now I really don't have anyone to do it with until the year after next (if I stay in this city). My real desire to return to halls is simply that I am right next to the Uni- no travel and superb motivation to go in, which is something I'll need in my 3rd year.
I certainly want to avoid coming across as the quote above, but for the love of GOD I am not spending my last year in education alone on some housing estate letting my circle of friends grow ever smaller. I'm 23, and the party game has gone on for a few years now; I know when to get up and dance and when to get down and reference wikipedia. I mean write an essay.
To be fair though, I think Chimpy just sold it to me.

I would try to offer advice but I'm at university in St Andrews where the halls are filled with rugby-playing gilet-wearing double-barelled arseholes from Berkshire and their pearled, denim skirt & cowboy boot-outfitted female counterparts. Either them or rich American imports who missed the Prince William boat but are sticking around paying 10 grand a year to finish their IR degree and piss away their (quite enormous piles of) cash on the novelty to them that is alcohol.
