And links please to these passages of the Koran. I ask because I have 2 separate translations of the Koran and I'd like to confirm this in them. Besides, Muslims have at times acted as protectors of the Jews in the Middle East so if there is anything like that in there it must down to interpretation.

What you are referring to is 'dhimmi', being allowed to live as second-rate citizins if they pay the 'hidja', protection-money for non-muslims living under 'sharia' (islamic law). Very noble at the time but that was then.

It's normal certain things are simply dismissed. This isn't about Israel mia muca's, it's about a non-islamic state on islam soil. There is the house of peace Daral Islam, and the house of war Daral Harb (can mean many things). Nothing can and will change that. Israel can keep shooting back or pack up and leave, but it's not going to stop.

Isn't the "All muslims hate the west, this will never change" argument both quite tired and total bullshit by now? Or are we still doing that for some reason?

BUT, here's the kicker. Even if (in crazy fragonyland for example) it were the case, would constant oppression, tankrape and carpet bombing of gaza (or hey, egypt? Overreaction never goes out of style) actually make this situation better for anyone? Other than weapons manufacturers, I guess.
