I seem to have misplaced this when I was travelling about Vvardenfell. I go to Caius and he tells me to go get it, wherever I put it. Trouble is, I don't have the slightest clue where I left it. Is it possible to beat the main storyline without actually advancing in the Blades? I REALLY don't want to have to start a new game and I've already acquired Keening and made my way to the top of the Mage's and Thieve's Guilds. I heard somewhere that you can "beat" the game by becoming uber and killing Vivec. Please help.
P.S. I own this game on Xbox, so I can't go into the editor and replace the note/letter.

If you can remember the merchants you sold books too (?)...that would be a good starting point. Even though the notes often have no money value the book merchants will take then off your hands. Go to your favorite bookseller first and look in their inventory to see if it was givin to one of them.

Yeah, I've tried that. Also, I've gone to all the spots where I've been "over-encumbered" whilst pillaging:) and had to drop stuff(all that I could remember at least) and it wasn't in any of my piles. Thanks, though.

Hrm... it may be possible to do as you said without following the 'Blades' plotline, Primussucks; I haven't looked absolutely every last facet over but it oughta be possible. Here's what to do...
1) Kill Vivec (obviously) and get the 'Unique Dwemer Artifact'
2) Get the two scrolls from the table behind him ('Vivec's plans', and 'Dagoth Ur's plans', I believe)
3) Take all of those to Yagrum Bagarn under Tel Fyr
4) Follow his instructions; the books he wants are in the Dwemer ruins inside the Ghostfence. (If you've found and lost the books 'Kagrenac's Journal' or 'Kagrenac's Planbook', you're screwed; game over)
He should (eventually) give you a fully-working Wraithguard; make sure your health is > 226 when you wear it, it hits you for 200-225 the 1st time you do.
After that, Vivec's plans should tell you what you need to do.
Good luck ;)

Thanks Forsythe!!:cheeky: I just recently joined the Imperial Legion, so I'm gonna do their quests first as I don't want to beat the game just yet. After I do those, I should have no problem wupping Vivec  Thanks again, man!!!:thumb:

ummm...regarding beating the game and all...
i read somewhere where someone said I had to purchase a slave from a certain dealer on the east coast for another person in the main quest...
well, problem is, I went walkabout and found this dealer, bought all the slaves and freed them all....
am I screwed?
Forsythe on 8/7/2002 at 18:29
Dunno, if you freed the Dunmer slave left of the slavemistress then probably; otherwise no. (I wouldn't be surprised if that particular slave is only enabled when you start the quest in question)
VetMichael on 8/7/2002 at 20:17
Hmmm...I don't remember seeing a dunmer slave...So maybe its only there when the quest is active...
Too bad that Bethesda didn't make slaves more useful...like maybe one could become a hireling/travelling companion after you purchased/freed it. like if they could carry extra weapons/armor/etc. and fight by your side and so forth...Maybe I'll have to do it as a MOD of my own...(though that spoils the whole mystery of finding a traveling companion).

Woofrickinhoo!!! I found it!! I was ditching some heavy items in one of "my rooms" in Ald'ruhn Mage's Guild so I could carry the 3 sets of glass armor I aquired. Later, about 280,000 GP richer, I went back to pick up my stuff and I noticed a single, very small piece of paper on the floor. It was the note!! Now I can beat the game the right way. Thanks for all the help, anyway!!
