I do not care about my slight load times, but I do get FAR too many crash to desktop bugs. No too big of a deal really if you quick save constantly, but still a pain in the ass.
I also noticed on the third floor of that Temple/Tower looking thing Wst of Belmora that one of the houses is floating...

-KEN Odd. I have only experienced one crash in Morrowind, and that was while switching resolutions (I haven't been able to reproduce the problem either). Are many people have problems with stability?

Are many people have problems with stability? Yeah, I usually crash my PC with a Blackscreen after an hour or two of play. I'm using the No safedisk crack. 700 Mhz Pentium. GEForce 4 4400, 640 Megs RAM.

Well - i'd just like to say i'm using the no-cd thing.. this has in fact made it MORE stable on my system.. for some inexplicable reason..
I solved most of my fps issues by being sooo impressed with morrowind and how beautiful it looked on the b/f much beefier pc.. that i spent all my savings on a geforce 4400.. and 128 meg of extra memory.. - and a better soundcard- i guess this makes me a bit sad :joke: I guess that was extreme.. but im happy :)
Seriously tho - that no cd thing really sorted the crashing to desktop thing. I am getting the loading exterior thing all the time.. but in a game as big as this one - its too be expected, and of course my hard drive and dvd drives are v slow - i am drawing the line here tho - not replacing my whole pc to improve the running of morrowind!

I've said it before, I'll say it again. SAFE DISK SUCKS!!!
It gave me the exact same problems with Diablo II, and a few other games.

Hey I am a really new Newbie at this type of stuff so could someone please help me (maybe more then one person!)
As the link at the start of this post no longer works please help.
1. What file am I looking to DL?
2. Where can I find it (a site that is still working)?
3. What other DL do I need to make it work?
4. How do I go about unpacking and placing it into my system?
Thanks

Look at the most recent post by Alessandra in this thread. It gives a nice breakdown of what exactly you have to do.

For anyone whos crashing alot, and is using XP, (dont know about pro..) your problem probally isnt your hardware, or the game, XP just crashes almost everything.. Im using home edition, so i don't know if pro crashes games to, but mine will crash anything, randomly.. So dont go buying a new video card, more ram, more memory, and all that other krap, just go back to ME=)

Or better yet, go back to 98SE. WinME == yuck.
If the unSafeDisc patch causes MW to crash in 2k, it's probably MW. ;) The patch makes MW much more unstable, but does result in a ~5 fps performance boost. As far as I'm concerned, it's hardly worth it; things're unstable enough as it is.
The Quadratic lighting model makes MW look much uglier. Foggy areas are much more difficult to see through, and instead of a gradual fade from dark to light, you get lines in between the different area. What's more, I didn't notice any performance boots. This tweak was also not worth it. :)
DontThreadLoad=1 was also not really that great. While it did eliminate loading times while I was just walking around, in most cases, those load times would last approximately 2 seconds. I experienced the shakiness and such that someone mentioned with thread loading off, which was kind of irksome, so again, I went back to my old setting.
Incidentally, I had this banding problem with Deus Ex, with my crappy savage4 and then later on with my gf3. Yuck. Yet another reason that I did not play it for very long. ;)
I'm going to see what turning down the pixel shading texture resolution does for me, although I'm not holding out much hope.
Oh, and here're my specs, just so you know: Duron 900 oced to 1.03ghz; gf3 vidcard; ~450mb RAM; and I'm running Win2k sp2.

Hmmm....
I have an Intel PIII/600, 384 mb RAM and a TNT2 Ultra 32MB 3D-card (soon upgraded with a GF4 Ti4200), and runs Win98 SE. Will it do for Morrowind?
