Thanks again everyone for all of your help, I did the nvidia driver thing and am now able to play the game. :o WOOT. :)
I am going to keep all of the other tuning suggestions in place, hopefully that will help with performance, graphics look great can't wait to get exploring. :)
Thanks again a ton. :)

hey dietger you do know that even with the no cd crack you still have to have the cd in to play the game right? sounds dumb, but the game still has to load the movies off the cd to start... all the no-cd hack does is remove the safedisk checksum that slows down the game while your playing. If you don't remove the safedisk protection every 2min or so the game checks for the cd. The only real way to tell if the nocd thing has worked for you is to look for a performance boost...

I'm using the no-cd crack (WITH the CD in), and I STILL get the pauses every 90 seconds or so when the safedisc crap kicks in. Really frustrating. No crashes that I wasn't having before the crack... The crashes are totally random and just drop me back to the desktop... I get one every 4 to 5 hours of gameplay. No locks, just a CTD; pretty benign, IMO. But the Safedisc checks every 90 seconds or so really annoys the bejeezus outta me.
Don't know if this is important, or if anyone's had similar results, but my CD drive is a Creative 52x, OS is WinXP Pro (fully patched) and my vid card is a Visiontek GF4 ti4600 with 27.50 drivers.
Anyone? :erm:

LOL
Darkghosty
Thanks for the advise! Now I really thought it would be like ever: no cd needed!
As it looks now that crack works I just thought I could start without cd.
Bye the way, Morrowind is an outstanding RPG!!!
I just love it like Thief!

witness there is a setting you are going to want to change in the morrowind.ini file that makes it so it dosn't load exterior every 90 seconds. I'd get the actual setting name for you but i'm at class right now and I don't have my game on me. I've posted the setting before you can search for all posts by me. I know it's right at the top of the ini file, i think it's like Loadblahblah=0 and it should be loadblahblah=1... sorry i can't give you more info, but that'll make it so it loads a larger area when that little "loading exterior" dialogue box pops up so it dosn't pause the game every 90 seconds. For me I didn't notice a change in the loading exterior time, but i still don't have those little pauses... plus the crash thing is pretty much rare, I don't usually crash all that often :)

DontThreadLoad (with a default of 0), is not guaranteed to help at all. In fact, on my system I experience
even more loading pauses with this setting changed. Additionally, the gameworld
shakes and moves distractingly during these additional loads.

Well any setting that someone recommends will differ from system to system, I didn't mean for this to be a fix-all for every system sorry if that was misconstrued to anyone
