I'm *really* trying to understand Gille's posts but Jesus H. I can't comprehend a fucking thing he says.
Is Gillie female?

Corn syrup is absolute shit... I don't even need to read the ingredients list, considering how well I can recognise that sickly taste.
I'm so glad that not as many products here use it, compared to the States.

Mmmm! Chicken nuggets are tasty, but they make me feel ill.
I eat a lot of buffalo/bison that tastes as good or better than beef. We have farms around Washington state that raise organically fed bison and there is a small restaurant that I buy the meat from. It is damn tasty and more lean than beef. So you could look for something like that for a substitute. I also go to a couple local farmers markets where there are some reputable small ranchers that have been around for decades. Of course it is not very convenient to shop this way, but it is worth it.

Yes SHE is. :p
I was pointing out that by keeping animals in factory kind of conditions and piled on top of each other. Then pumping them with crap causes these problems.
Processed foods like chicken nuggets are full of rubbish, mainly skin and bone. With added ingredients to make them taste good.
Sorry Gille! I'm just having trouble processing what you you're saying sometimes. I'm a big fan of subjects and verbs in sentences. Sue me.

Explains a lot! :joke:
Personally, while I do prefer my meat to not have been pissed on or whatever- again, cruelty free meat, though obviously people have different ideas on what constitutes cruelty- I'm not going to get too upset about so-called "factory conditions" or anything like that. Don't get me wrong, I like animals, but I tend to worry more about animals I can hug. Like dogs.
I don't get this "skin and bones" comment. That doesn't even begin to relate to what I typically eat at Wendy's.

http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k8/TafferBoyElvis/GodsCreatures.jpgI was a vegetarian for about 9 months. It was because of the idea of eating something that has been treated like crap. I think if everyone had to slaughter their own meat, there would be a lot more vegetarians, or at least, a lot more people growing their own foods and livestock. I really liked the thought of helping save some animals from slaughter, but at the same time, one person can't make a huge dent in the meat market. I started feeling like a predator whenever I saw a nice steak in the meat section in the grocery store. I had to get a mental image to myself that I would kill an animal for it's meat for my survival. It's the story of life. Things that aren't as smart, fast, or cunning get eaten by those who are. I stopped eating a lot of chicken after I saw the thread on here about the patented chicken cultivator thingy. Yuck.

High fructose corn syrup is the least of your worries if you don't omit "hydrogenated".
Regular peanut butter, for example, unless it is the natural peanuts and salt variety, is horrible for you - much more so than high fructose corn syrup.
Gillie, what you are looking for with chicken (in part) is called "nitrates".
Vegetarian FTW. Meat problems (plus a ton of other stuff) fixed.
p.s. i'm a veggie hypocrite because i do eat fish on occasion... pescatarian is the official cheese-word for it.

The only problem with this analogy is that (hopefully) humans are able to evolve above simplistic animal characteristics. Or at least some of us out there hope :)
june gloom on 18/2/2008 at 19:39
Humans are omnivores. I don't think any further evolution is needed.
