So incredibly arrogant and patronizing.
No,
this is patronizing:

fett's advice is solid and extends to absolutely anyone on this forum. All we have on here is written communication, and it's well established that forum members are expected to at least write at a certain level. This isn't about fett being satisfied with her posts, it's about her taking the time to write things up so that the rest of us can understand her contributions. You take the time. I take the time. Why shouldn't Gillie?
More specifically, why should Gillie get a free pass from those of us who do take the time?

There are a lot of opinions in this thread.
I bet we can get more if we try!

As I said, I think her reaction speaks for itself. As for how many people are ignoring her because of her writing style, I don't know the answer and neither do you. She seems to have made herself understood well enough in the other threads she's contributed to. It would be a mistake for you to simply write this off as her being immature or overly sensitive--you're to blame as well. I'm just trying to prompt you to think about your tone when speaking to people whose background, etc. you don't know. I wish I could recommend some book on how to treat people gently and with respect. ;)
I just think it's a shame she's gone, if she really is.

I think we can all take things a little too seriously sometimes, and vice versa.
While I agree generally with Stitch that the standard of communication must be raised (by notifying that person in public or in private) if the membership is having difficulty understanding someone, the manner in which one does it can be telling about the community, in general. As has been the case for much too long in CommChat, and perhaps TTLG as a whole, we are becoming pretty vitriolic.
Not trying to fucking drama queen the proceedings here, or point fingers (fuck knows I've been a snipey cunt on occasion), but just offering a word for the wise: the posters who most frequently threw out "STOP POSTING" etc aren't here anymore, for better or worse and removed at their own insistence or other's.
Of course, deleting posts is just fucking wrong. Can we remove this function already for fuck's sake?

Well...fuck. :erg:

i think things would be better all around if folks just pulled the stick out of their ass and said Bob's your uncle. Seriously.
Someone does not communicate in a manner that others find comprehensible. Does it really matter?
If someone deletes posts, does it matter?
Maybe i just don't take not-serious-forums seriously, call my ass crazy. If i wanted serious discussion or anything besides managed chaos, i don't think i'd start with internet forums.
Or maybe i just need to take my own advice, sit down, and have a drink.
Either way, someone's feelings may or may not have been hurt, there was much criticism and attempts to put people in "their" "places", and the occasional funny banter.
Welcome to comm chat. Peanuts, anyone?

Well, several of us do come here for quality discussion with serious views being aired on both sides on matters trivial and not so much, so I would hazard your view on things isn't quite relevant to a large amount of CommChat participants.
And yes, there is a problem with someone communicating incomprehensibly it's called NOT fucking communicating and that can be an issue if the person is trying to be part of the discussion. Either they are informed that their views are unclear or they are ignored, I think it's clear which one is more beneficial to the community.
Same goes for deleting posts, posts inspire discussion and reactions if the context of said reactions/posts is removed then people can look quite strange indeed and the entire cohesion of the discussion is derailed.
This is one of those things that should be taken seriously, but there's a difference between caring how things are done and shitting on people who don't do them the way they "should be". That's all I was attempting to address.

But then we wouldn't get PigLicks split personallity telling himself to stop posting and that would make evil Tocky sad.
And, as in all beef threads, I would like to thank England for possibly giving me MAD COW DISEASE. I will use it henseforth and possibly forthwith a fortnight as an excuse for my own garbled posting because, even though I've always been given a free pass anyway, it will throw you off the scent of my increasing alcoholism.
Dysfunctional families provide the most entertainment. Pass the hydrogenated fat and pig buttholes. I can burn off anything.

several of us? possibly more than that I think. Also what the hell can I cook with chicken and chorizo without doing the obvious spanish thing?
