Hi,
How are you doing?
Komag on 4/4/2022 at 23:56
Doing great after hours of updating missions from the past. For example, I didn't even know you hosted the Vertical Contest back in 2009! Good to see you.

What year is this?? What's going on? XD
Not bad. How you doin'?

Pretty good! Working on some game projects I'm excited about. Looking forward to spring and the thaw. We still got snow on the ground here, but it's about to turn to plus degrees, thank god.

So-so. The situation in Ukraine is pretty much constantly on my mind: we're in the lucky position at work to be able to put money towards helping people from Ukraine come to Switzerland and find employment for a year, but I'm involved in co-ordinating the whole thing for our organisation, so for the last month or so it's been ever-present at work, and even though we can help some, there are many that we can't help at all. We're also close to running out of the funds we have for this, so within a week or so we'll have to tell everyone, "Sorry, no more money." Mind you, obviously we're still hugely privileged to be able to help in the first place, for however long.
How are you doing?

We miss you Digi!! Are you back or are you still at Arkane? (And omg was I not supposed to ask you that?) What's new with you, btw?? How are you doing?
P.S. We're fine, though some of us are still pining for the good ole days & missing our old TTLG buddies. Great to hear from you!

Had the week from absolute hell due to a weak link in our son's daycare letting the stomach flu in (infecting my son, then me, then my daughter), but starting a new job on Monday and it's going to be spring soon, which means apéro season is just around the corner.
Plus, just got a tropical freshwater fish tank which is a hobby I've been looking to re-ignite since my 20s.
Overall I'd say things are good.

Thanks for asking, Digi.
Personally we are doing pretty well in the moment but suffering in Ukraine and the reemergence of fascism is a constant grind on the spirit. Also our schools have lifted their mask requirement just as kids are returning from spring break, bringing god knows what infections from who knows where they have been for two weeks. Not that the younger ones were very good at compliance to begin with. Or even understanding what the masks were for, since they usually remove their masks to shout things at each other then quickly replace them once their spittle had been well and truly distributed.
Ah, first world problems.

I haven't been around these parts for a good 6 years but thought I'd pop in for a chat. It's nice to hear personal stories and check in with how folks are doing. :)
Covid has been a nightmare for us since we live on a small island and travel has been out of the question until recently. We holidayed in Croatia (Yugoslavia) before their civil war and we can see similarities with what is happening now in Ukraine. So sad. We're donating regularly as much as we can.
One good thing is that I'm now on permanent staff at my college - and I appreciate the regular work. Freelancing is great and all but a salary is good security in these times. I've also recently re-ignited a love of physical modeling - scratchbuilding. It's great therapy from the digital heavy lifting I have to do as a college lecturer.

Great to see you around, Digi!
I finally found an anti-psychotic whose side effects aren't disastrous. I'm also heading back to graduate school next fall (UNT), to try to get back into academia. So, positive news overall for me.
