In case of a failed hacking attempt the input device of the security terminal breaks and you have to repair it first in order to turn off the security alert. But in most cases you're better off just using a different security terminal to turn off the alert since the boosted respawn is no fun in some areas. IF there's a different security terminal around, that is.
