First game to have physics: Space War

Err ... Pong.
:-)

Space War predates Pong by almost a decade. It's not a physical simulation anyway-- there's no momentum to the game's objects. Space War simulated inertia and gravity.

Well, at least the phsyics model WORKS. The engine was meant to run Thief, so theres a certain degree of slack you have to give LG when it comes to assault rifles not being as good as they could be with the Doom 3 engine.

Oh, we're not focusing on electronic games then? Hmm.. then I'd have to say foot races or throwing rocks, both predating Space War by a significant margin. I guess there's other 'games' that could be considered though, but pursuing that would spawn another related topic.

Did a search on Space War. Wow, I had no idea there was actually vector monitors back in 1960/1, nevermind videogames. And seeing as it IS video, my further arguments were superfluous. Impressive storehouse of trivia there ZB.

Really now. What do you think an oscilloscope is?

... Redeveloped to use one after vector displays were actually extant?
