I was going through Liberty Island last night for the umpteenth time when I realized that I had just withdrawn all the money from that couple's ATM account in the statue without bothering to go find the datacube. Normally I can recall passwords with a little effort, but this login/code was entirely numbers. I'm slightly creeped out by this.
It might just be that I'm such a visual learner, or maybe I've just played the game so many times. Has anyone else found themselves doing this?

Yes. But then, that one's easy to remember.

I never robb ATM's. I'm a cop, not Garrett.
Although i did rob Paul's room and several offices in UNATCO HQ!

See thats something you`d put on one of those "Times you know you`ve been playing Deus Ex too much" thingos

Picasso - Yes, I have done the same. I remembered most of the logins and passcodes for the game the third time I played it. I think it may have been because I had written them down the first time through--that way I didn't have to waste time looking it up in the onscreen notes--and I tend to remember better when I write things down.

i think it's more subtle than that.
i mean, everybody who has played a game once will (probably) skip the cutscenes, because he knows how the story will advance (if he does not, he's going for the atmosphere, i guess). he's just playing for playing's sake, because of the good gameplay.
knowing details is just the logical next step. if you play a game 5 times, it's only natural that you know codes by heart.
.
compare it to a book you love. you could recite passages, couldn't you?

This has probably been asked before, but what is the significance of 0451? Forgive me if so - I'm new to these parts.
It's in System Shock - the keycode in Level 1.
A variant is in SS2 - 45100
In Thief TMA, it's possibly a warehouse number in 'Shipping', or was that 0457? Tenuous one this.
In Deus Ex, it's the Van's access code?
I need enlightning.

Brotherwolf - "451" was a long-running Looking Glass Studio in-joke; it's featured in some way in almost all their games. It was, in fact, the code to their office door in their Cambridge offices. It stems, for some reason that I've forgotten, from Ray Bradbury's seminal book, Farenheit 451.
