How do I run T3 in windows 8? Clicking T3.exe or T3main.exe does nothing at all. Process briefly shows up in task manager then disappears. Already installed 1.1 patch and sneaky patch.

running as admin?

I'm already running it as admin.

and not running from program files, right? old games hate that.
also, I'm out of ideas.

On my Win8 machine even the unpatched game runs without issue.
Some suggestions:
* Use the (
http://darkfate.org/view/files/fan-missions/needful_stuff/t3main.exe_and_t3.exe.7z) T3.exe from the editor, if you don't already. (Don't replace T3Main.exe.)
* Make sure you have the latest Sneaky Upgrade (1.1.2.1), which has several Win8 fixes
* Try disabling your virus checker. The SU patches some exe files, will probably look suspicious
* Try windowed mode by adding
Code:
[WinDrv.WindowsClient]
StartupFullscreen=false
to the user.ini file in the game root. (If you don't have a user.ini just create it next to the System and Content folders)
T3 is new enough that it can be installed to Program Files, everything that gets written goes into the "Thief - Deadly Shadows" folder, normally in public documents. (If there's any chance your SaveGamePath registry value could point to a restricted folder then change it.)
Running as admin shouldn't be necessary either (but should of course be tried anyway), compatibility modes can do more harm than good so be sure to reset that after experimenting if you don't find a fix.
Unless GOG has provided an update recently, then their version is essentially identical to the original retail version, except it's using the T3.exe file linked to above.
