I'm curious, did you even read the first post of this thread...? :erm:
If you have a dualcore or HT processor, the answer is right there. And I'd not use compatibility mode if the game started out fine. The freezing is more than likely related to your processor and can easily be fixed if you follow what is said in the first post.

Sorry if this problem has been posted before, i tried to look it at these forums but didnt find anytihing.
Installation wont start. With or without -lgntforce nothing happens when running the setup.exe. Cursor changes to hourglass for a brief time and then goes back. There are wowexec.exe and setup.exe in the task manager but they wont go away unless killed.
Same thing happens with 2 different computers, both running win xp sp2
computer1: core duo t2400
computer2: axp 2500+
i succesfully played ss2 with the axp2500+ one before formatting and installing sp2, now the setup wont even start.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance :)

What do you mean with a manual install?
Patcher wont find the game if I just copy the files from the cd.

That can be fixed by creating the missing registry keys that the patch installer looks for. I can find one in:
HK_Local_Machine\Software\Looking Glass Studios\System Shock(tm) 2\1.0
It is a reg_dword called NeverAgain and has the hexadecimal value 0.
You also need an install.cfg, they have been posted on this forum more than once, try look for them with the search feature here.
