His only excuse is blindness or dyslexia. :nono:
But turn off compatibility mode, chances are your problem might even get solved that way if you don't have HT or X2 processor.

I installed SS2 about a hundred different ways so far. I've tried every single fix, patch, method, etc.(XP Fix, NO CD crack, etc.) to try and get the game to run and it's always with the same outcome. The "Xerses detecting CD" screen comes up super briefly, the screen goes black for 2 seconds, then goes back to my desktop and I get a "The program has encountered an error and had to close" error box. No matter what I do this is always what I get in the end.
My head is about to explode after messing with trying to get SS2 to work for around 2 hours now and sifting through hundreds upon hundreds of forum posts trying different methods to fix it. Can someone reply, or re-reply on what to do, or even e-mail me suggestions? Me and my throbbing brain thank you.
So yeah. I've tried everything. XP Fix patch, installing it every way possible, NO-CD fixes, multiple versions, nothing. Nothing works at all. The game won't start all I get is the dumb error box. Can absolutly no one help me?

Trying SS2 for... well, not the first time, but the second technically. I installed it once before and didn't encounter the problem. Currently, I'm on a Windows XP SP2, running in compatibility mode with Windows 95 (I've tried the others as well. A few of them give me an error and won't allow the game to open). The game opens, the menu works fine, the first video plays. The training mission won't load, however, and gives me a black screen. Upon opening the task manager it says System Shock 2 is not responding, and I have to end the task. My computer is a single core, by the way, without hyperthreading.
Edit: I've used the fixed exe and tried the safe_texture_manager line, but alas I'm using an ATI Radeon 9800Pro, not an nVidia card. They did not fix my problem.

Turn off compatibility mode. It only causes problems with SS2; it does not solve them.

That is incorrect. My machine requires Win2000 compatibility to enabled in order to run. It doesn't need any other tweaks or patches, but it does need this.

Fighting against natural laws can only cause problems. :p

Okay... that worked o_O For some reason when I tried to play without compatibility mode earlier it gave me an error and wouldn't start. Maybe all it needed was a restart?

I highly doubt that, but anything is possible.

Evening there, gentlemen. I tried SS2 recently on my computer, and I ran into the "Nvidia drivers out of date" problem. I've tried the solutions given in this forum for that problem in a particular thread (modifying config.cfg, creating user.cfg and modifying it, using a special .exe), and the error message no loger appears, but the game goes to a black screen after the starting cinematics. I've got a Pentium IV 3 Ghz, 2048 RAM and a GeForce 7600. Any ideas?. Thank you in advance.

Try rename the file LGVID.AX.
