Does anyone know what exactly to do from a fresh install on XP to make this work? If anyone can magically decipher this and solve the problem that'd be cool too. Basically, I'm a total n00b at this, so I need a step by step guide of what to do from a fresh ss2 install on xp to make it run. Thanks.

You should edit your post and either disable HTML-parsing in it or add
HTML:
and
tags beginning and end of that section of text in your post so others might see it, too.
And back to your problem.
Try to rename LGVID.AX to something different, for example to LGVID.AX.BAK, so main game wont find it. By doing this you won't see ingame videos. However you can view these videos with your favourite multimedia player.
What version of video driver do you have? If you can, try to downgrade or upgrade your driver to previous or later version.
Have you tried (
http://www.strangebedfellows.de/index.php/topic,36.0.html) Bobruck's fixed shock2.exe-file?

I'v finally managed to get SS2 working only to find i have another problem! for some reason after i equip any kind of weapon and use it, i cant use any key that is bound to the "Use" command. this makes the game unplayable after the first 2 Minutes of game play. PLEASE its taken me hours of pain to get the bloody game to work only to be brickwalled by some stupid bug. any one got any suggestions?

I've never heard of that problem before. :weird:
Have you tried rebinding the controls in the options menu?

I installed SS2 about a hundred different ways so far. I've tried every single fix, patch, method, etc.(XP Fix, NO CD crack, etc.) to try and get the game to run and it's always with the same outcome. The "Xerses detecting CD" screen comes up super briefly, the screen goes black for 2 seconds, then goes back to my desktop and I get a "The program has encountered an error and had to close" error box. No matter what I do this is always what I get in the end.
My head is about to explode after messing with trying to get SS2 to work for around 2 hours now and sifting through hundreds upon hundreds of forum posts trying different methods to fix it. Can someone reply, or re-reply on what to do, or even e-mail me suggestions? Me and my throbbing brain thank you.

Wait a sec, I think I have heard of that before. The guy did get it solved if I remember correctly. Your best bet is to use the search function, it will be much easier finding it if he posted a new thread about it instead of here.

Read the bright red FAQ pinned towards the top of this forum, specifically the section referencing game freezes with dual core, dual processor and hyperthreading systems.
