Ok, Hi. Im New Here mainly because i've just tried to reinstall SS2, and i ca'nt play it. I've been skimming over the help sections but im stumped so i come to you guys.
First off i had the usual compatiblilty mode problems> switched it to Windows 2000, only to get told that i did not have the correct Indego Codec.
So i looked in the help guide and reinstalled that iv5p thingy, and then also registered it via the run menu. And still i get that problem. Even if i clikc continue after the box has come up it just says unknown error in the ever unhelpful windows has deteced an error box.
Im about to install the patch to see if that fixes anything, but incase it doesnt i'm throwing myself at your mercy because i really really wanna play this game again lol
Any help grately appreciated!

If you have seen the cutscenes before, just rename the 'cutscenes' folder so you won't need the codec. Plus, you can simply watch them by playing the AVI files. (if Windows likes the Indeo codecs better than SS2)

But then you won't be able to view the cutscenes afaik.
But at least the game works for you (so far). :)

Strange, if you are using the compability mode, turn it off and maybe it will work better.

I turned Off Compatability mode and it still did not change.
The program you are trying to run requires a current Indeo codec.
To obtain a current driver that is compatible with this version of Windows, please contact the manufacturer at (
http://indeo.ligos.com).
Thats the message displayed when i try and run the game

You tried already to install the codec from the CD didn't you? That pretty much rules out every solution I know of. :erm: I have K-Lite Codec Pack installed on my computer, maybe you can try that. I should maybe tell you that these codedc packs can be risky, cause all sorts of conflicts with present installed codecs.
Also, try to play the AVIs in the cutscenes folder.

Ok Forget That.
Basically i delted the lvag.ax file, and it got into the main Menu. Woohoo Partial Success.
However now it says that.
Error: Direct3d device drive does not accuratley report texture meory usage. Contact your 3d Accelerator Vendor for Updated Drives.... Help!

Put the text safe_texture_manager at the bottom of cam.cfg in the main SS2 directory, that should make the error go away. :)
