Apart from that, just in case you're referring to the very first intro movies (the small ones from Irrational and LGS that show up when you launch the game), you can check the cam.cfg file. There's a line that is written there after the first time you launch the game saying SKIP_INTRO. If you want to see those movies, then you have to delete that line and make the file 'read only'.

thanks for the help! the fix for the videos worked, but changing to 60 hertz or lower just made the speed more unstable. and i wasn't talking about the developers little clips before, but those weren't showing up either. i deleted the skip_intro line before, but didnt' make it read only, and it didn't do anything. anyone else know about the speed issue?
and that link said to turn on antialiasing, would i have to force that with my video card, i guess?
[edit]: i forced the antialiasing with my video card, and that made it go the proper speed about 1/3 of the time. the rest of the time it doesn't speed up as much, but it still does it. (on 60 hertz still)

The regsvr fix didn't work. I tried downloading the newest Indeo codecs, and now it crashes when I try to start a new game, before it even reaches the loading screen. I found that by renaming lgvid.ax (the file that seems to be causing the problem), I can circumvent this issue. But it still won't play the videos.

Damned disobediant computers! Okay, did a little more snooping, checked out the Thief FAQ, there's more info on the problem there, but (
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;327979) this link jumped out at me. Looks like it might be helpful. :) I hope. :erm:

Woohoo, I the videos working! What fixed it for me was downloading and installing (
http://www.divx.com) DivX Player.

Is there any way to disable the videos/cutscenes? I have completed the game 3 times and I don't need em - I just want to have a SS2 that works.

I think that might be a compatability error... I had the same... once... it fixed itself for no apparent reason...
