How do you save the word pad thing? I tried with the "user.cfg" file and I added that texure thing...only thing was I couldn't save the changes. Kept giving me a whole mess of errors so I just didn't do it. Any help on how I can save changes in word pad would be much help! Thanks in advance!

Trouble saving changes in WordPad?? It might be that WordPad appends an extra extension onto the file. I'd use NotePad for starters, but click on the file you've saved and make sure it's not called 'user.cfg.txt' or something.
But it's most likely some other problem.

Hmmm. What kind of errors? They may be important. And use Notepad. ;)

The buff len of 80 exceeded error messaged is caused by the path (including the filenames) exceeding 80 characters in length.
I would suggest that installing games to My Documents is not the best idea.
Bio-Wraith - that looks like it was trying to run in software mode. Open up the file cam.cfg from the Shock2 directory using Notepad and check that the line game_hardware is equal to 1. If it is not set it to 1. In addition ensure that game_screen_depth is set to 16.
I looked and its set to those modes...so that ain't it. Anything else I could be missing?

The reason this happens is the game can't save (it autosaves right after loading when you choose a career), mainly because there is a folder missing. Try creating a folder called "current" inside the sshock2 folder... :cheeky:
Enjoy! :thumb:

This is somewhat off topic but I can't get it to work on my Win98 system...
on my winXP system it works fine on but when I try to load it in win98 I just get repetitive dinging and a black screen after trying to start a new game... and I tried loading a save file from my other computer and that doesn't work either, same thing... any idea why this is happening or how to fix it?
Never mind I figured it out... used the safe_texture_manager line in cam.cfg
