I installed SysShock 2 on XP home.
First, the .exe wouldn't work, saying I needed more free diskspace, so I simply changed the compatibility mode, and it worked.
Then videos wouldn't work, so I downloaded the latest DivX codec. Now the intro video works, but right after it's finished, the screen goes black, and nothing happens. I need to bring up the task manager to shot down SS2.
So now I'm lost, how to get the game to actully load the levels?

After following the directions...I finally got SS2 to work, but now the mouse fails to drag items into the inventory (bag of chips, bottle of juice) i tried adjusting the mouse settings in the control panel...tried switching to my old logitech mouse...updated the drivers...
Also...I tried updating using the shkpatch...but I got a error: Wrong version..."Cannot patch this version of the game. This patch expects version 1.15 to be the installed version. The version currently installed is 2.3"
Any idea's...?
XP Pro
AMD XP3000
Asus A7N8X-D
ATI9800 Pro
Corsair TWINX1024-3200LL
logitech keyboard & mouse

has anybody ever tried getting the program Virtual PC and running a copy of windows 95/98 and just installing SS1/2 on the Virtual PC and playing it that way? That's the way I'm planning on doing it.. I just need to find a copy of windows 95/98. Hopefully everything works fine from there. :)
just thought I'd throw this idea out for others to think about and try. might be a lot less hassle.

Sounds like a expensive way to run an old PC game.

Considering Virtual PC is like $200 dollars the last time I checked on it, yeah.

I read through the guide, but nothing mentioned here works. I get the NT incompatability error upon trying setup.exe, even with -lgntforce.
My machine specs are as follows:
2.66 ghz Pentium 4
512 mb RAM
64mb GeForce4 MX 440
XP Home with SP 1 and 2 and all updates
If anyone can help me out or even tell me that its hopeless and i should install Windows 2K, please do.

If the -lgntforce doesn't work, create a shortcut to the setup program on your desktop and use compatability mode for Windows 98SE/ME. That's another way to do it. Failing that, I assume that you could move the files manually somehow.

Virtual PC wont run System shock 2 at all.
That is confirmed.

I tried the shortcut and it still doesnt work.
If anyone has ever moved a SS2 installation then could they post back and tell me how they did it.
