Bjossi, are you talking to me or someone else mate?
Bjossi on 20/3/2007 at 17:04
To you of course. I'd use quote tags if I was talking to someone above you. ;)

Remember that you'll get random freezing in-game if you don't disable one of the two CPUs. ;)

thanks that worked..just one other q..
the ingame cutscenes are bit stuttery (the bit after you complete each year in training at the beginning). are they always like that?
Bjossi on 20/3/2007 at 21:36
I feel they are kind of laggy, but I think that is normal due to the quality.

Hello! I had problems with the infamous crash after choosing a career and stepping into the door. Now, i think the game can crash for different reasons at this point, but for me; this solved the problem:
1) I removed the cutscenes folder in my sshock 2 directory (if i want to watch them i can watch them from the CD).
2) (And this seems to be very important!) I changed the path to the cutscenes in the install.cfg (located in the folder where game is installed)from "movie_path C:\games\Sshock2\cutscenes+H:\shock\cutscenes" to "movie_path C:\games\Sshock2\cutscenes". In other words, i completely removed the path to the cutscenes on the CD. Now, the game simply can't find the cutscenes anywhere, and the game doesn't crash when it looks for them! Note that the paths will depend on where you installed the game and which drive your CD is in.
This worked for me, i hope it helps someone else! :D Maybe there's another workaround using the right codecs for the movie files, then maybe the cutscenes will play just fine. But it seems most people don't think the cutscenes are very important.

Thanks for posting that. :)
If nothing else works like codecs or lgvid.ax; then simply deactivating the cutscenes altogether is the best idea.

I'm having the same problem as a few posts above. I get to the career choice, go through a door, it shows the movie of a ship flying, then shows a loading screen. As soon as the loading screen appears, I hear the windows error sound and the loading bar fails to show any progress. When alt tabbing out, I get the "
buff len of 80 exceeded by 80". I've tried all the solutions that I've seen in the past 43 pages(forgive me if I missed one...). The game is installed into the default directory of c:/Sshock2. I've used all the patches and nocd cracks that I've found listed above, I've done the safe_texture trick in all the .cfg files (even made a user.cfg).
I'm really stumped here. My technical skill is pretty low, so I'm getting frustrated. Anyone who has made the game work with this problem?
My system specs are-
AMD 3500+ Venice
GeForce 6600gt
1 gig ram
I don't have a dual processor or dual core, but I'm not sure about the hyperthreading. I know I have hypertransport, is that the same? If so, could someone kindly help me through the steps, as though you were helping a 3 year old? That's about my skill level...
Thanks in advance!
