I'm running out of ideas. :erm:
Maybe this is video driver related, I am using 84.21 Forceware and no problems here.

Movies Fail To Play
========================================
Symptoms:
All FMV Cutscenes in the game are skipped
instantly, failing to play
Reason:
The old codecs used to encode the movies
is very unsupported under Windows XP.
Solution:
Run the file iv5play.exe located on the
System Shock 2 CD-ROM, this will install
the drivers and codecs needed to view the
movies. You may need to do this after each
reboot of your system. You can also register
the video drivers by running from the start
menu's Run command:
regsvr32 "x:\ss2\LGVID.AX"
You will need to change x:\ss2\ to the
directory where you installed System Shock 2
into.
" You can also register the video drivers by running from the start menu's Run command: regsvr32 "x:\ss2\LGVID.AX"
^^is there anyway to fix it so i DONT have to keep doing that everytime i want to play the game?

Did you try create a batch (filename.bat) file?
Raw example of content:
regsvr32 C:\Games\Sshock2\shock2.exe
C:\Games\Sshock2\shock2.exe

(
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=112751) You can use System Shock 2 Mod Manager to do that automatically.

Finally got it going!
Just needed ANOTHER reinstall and i disabled my secondary monitor just in case ;)
now for mods...
Bjossi on 20/3/2007 at 11:34
Maybe the secondary monitor was the main source of the problem.

After putting the version 1.0 exe of sshock2 back on, and changing the compatability mode to Windows NT, I can run the game, up until the point where you have to choose a career. If I choose navy, it goes to teh loading screen and stops after about 90& of it. And I get an error to do with "buff lens of 80 exceeded by 84" on my desktop and cannot continue. Also, I don't know if it matters but I could not change to the higher stereo hardware option in the sounds bit of the game options.
Where can I get the System Shock 2 Multithread/XP Fix from, because in the original post in this thread, the link to this file is not longer present. Does anyone have the multiplayer/XP fix link?
Cheers lads.

Just use this program for the dualcore/HT:

As for the error, where did you install the game? This error could be because the path is too long.
