Im having a hell of a time with System Shock 2 (HOTU version) and vista. I tried hyperthreading and the game no more stops randomly so i have that fixed all up. But whenever i go to the recruitment station and walk through to the navy choice it loads at the loading screen and then crashes any suggestions?

Since you have the HOTU version, I'm not interested in helping you.

Crashes on level transitions are usually caused by the absence of a 'current' folder in the SS2 install path (just create an empty one).
The crash could also happen if the appropriate mission file (station.mis in this case) is missing or corrupted.

Are there any fixes for the sound in SS2? I just recently installed it, I used the dual core fix to get it to run properly but there is no sound at all.

My friend own a XPS notebook 1710 (cost around 3.6k, so u can check wich hardware he got) , and we started to play SShock2 via Hamachi. He have Vista and the game runs very well. I installed it the same way i install it on XP: Install the patched game (v2.3) - Win Xp/2k fix (the .exe) - Sound fix (Deepfriedbeer) - bug fixes (straylight) - and quality (SHTUP/Rebirth) - and finally, the dual-processor fix via imagecfg.
It worked fine, some crash at level change (thats "normal"), but we have never been able to save a game. I run windows xp, and i can save, but the game feeze on his comp upon saving. i havent found the solution yet, otherwise its ok.

Maybe the game is unable to create the savegame folders for some odd reason. You can try create a folder named save_0 in the main SS2 directory and then try save into the first slot.

SS2 plays fine on the version of Vista I have and it didnt need any special procedures to work like on XP (it worked out of the box) but it crashes and/or locks up frequently on Vista. Can anyone help?

Do you by any chance have a dualcore processor?
